AUSTRALIA'S HOME OF CRAFT SINCE 1973

We’ve been helping Australians make, stitch and create since 1973. More than 50 years later, our own Morris yarns sit at the heart of what we do, each one developed with a distinct fibre, feel, and purpose in mind that have our customers reaching for them time after time.

Whether you're after an everyday workhorse wool, a luxury next-to-skin fibre, or a breezy cotton for warmer months, we've got a yarn built for the job. Here's a closer look at each of our five ranges, with a few kit ideas to help you get started.

Morris Estate 10ply.

1. Estate Yarn

Estate is Morris & Sons' hardworking, everyday 100% wool; it’s the range you reach for when you want reliable quality without the luxury price tag.

Machine washable, durable, and spanning a wide range of weights, Estate comes in a classic palette of 60 colours, so you’re guaranteed to find what you’re looking for.

Fibre: 100% wool

Morris Empire 8ply.

2. Empire Yarn

Empire is Morris & Sons' merino range, and it's a firm customer favourite for softness and stitch definition. Spun from 100% merino wool, it has a finer, softer feel than the Estate range, along with excellent elasticity and drape, making it the perfect choice for any project for little ones.

Morris Avalon 8ply.

3. Avalon Yarn

Avalon is Morris & Sons' go-to cotton for warm weather makes. It's spun from 100% Peruvian Pima cotton, prized as one of the finest cottons in the world thanks to its extra-long fibres (around 42mm), which give the yarn its softness, strength, and lasting colour.

Morris Maya 14ply.

4. Maya Yarn

Maya is luxuriously soft, spun from 100% baby alpaca sourced from the Peruvian Highlands.

Its fine 21–23 micron fibres give it a gentle warmth and a smooth feel that's noticeably plusher than wool, making it a popular alternative for knitters who find sheep's wool a little scratchy.

Morris Norway 8ply.

5. Norway Yarn

Norway is Morris & Sons' rustic pure wool, designed with durability in mind. It's a non-superwash 100% wool in an earthy colour palette - think cream, beige, mid brown, and grey. It's well suited to homeware, outdoor knits, and other pieces that need to stand up to wear over time.

  • Fibre: 100% wool
  • Weights available: 8, 10, 14 ply
  • Good for: Homewares, slippers, outdoor accessories, and other hardwearing knits
  • Kit suggestions: PetiteKnit Lulu Slipover

From the everyday reliability of Estate to the quiet luxury of Maya, we understand what Australian makers actually need from their yarn. We've done the work of sourcing the fibres, testing the weights, and building the palettes – all you need to do is choose your project and cast on. Pop into our Sydney or Melbourne stores to feel the difference for yourself, browse the full range online, or chat to our team if you're not sure which yarn is right for your next make. However you like to craft, we can't wait to see what you create.
