This month, we have been amazed by the creative wonders our Morris and Sons family have shared on our Instagram using Morris and Sons yarn. Read along to discover what what makes their project special.

July Part Two Crafters

Yolanda (@knit.knit_goose) created this super cool pattern herself, what a superstar!

"I used like every colour under the sun in the Morris Estate 8ply (but in particular egg yolk, ALL of the purples 'Posey and Latte'. The Chocolate Donut is in Empire 8ply in 'Clove' and the main red is Rowan Norwegian Wool in Ribbon Red'!"

"I’m all about knitting with colour, creating something that is truly ONE of a kind, that brings a bit of fun to the wearer but as well to anyone who sees it! I think that’s the coolest. Plus being able to connect it to Chappel Roan (my vest is named after her song 🎧) who is such a huge LGBTQI icon at the moment and who champions queer themes but equally!"

"Insanely magnificent displays of camp, colour and fun (I reckon she’d wear this vest and not just cause it’s named in her honour), well I think that’s so important and pretty special to me".

Jem (@jemgale) used the pattern “Lorelei Rectangular Shawl” by Steve Rousseau Designs and our Morris Empire 2ply in 'Kingfisher' to create her gorgeous shawl.

"The scarf weighs 93g. I knitted an extra section into the smaller geometric panels at either end as I wanted a long scarf rather than a shawl that would sit across my shoulders. I purchased the wool when we were visiting Sydney on a cruise in October 2023. So this pattern is my souvenir to myself of that trip".

"In my worry about whether the two balls I had bought would be enough, I went online a few months into the project and bought another two balls of the wool. So now I need to figure out what my next 2ply project will be! Watch this space"!

"I love the contrast colours and the part pink is speaking to me when I went and spent endless hour choosing yarn (if you know you know). Morris and Sons shop is Disneyland for yarn lovers, so many choices and I love comparing colours but always go back to pink so I decided to do a big triangle brioche shawl and a beanie to go to with it. I love to knit and continue to do all year long!"

Rebecca (@pots_and_knits) created Stephen West's 'Extra Texture Sweater' using our Morris 8ply Estate in 'Spruce' held together with Rowan Kidsilk Haze in 'Turquoise'.

"I started this jumper about 10 months ago. I put it down to make lots of other projects and didn’t come back to it until a few month ago. It's my cropped version of @westknits extra texture sweater"
Kristy (@thenervousknitter) created the Monday Suit by Petite Knits using our Rowan’s Summerlite 4ply .
"So soft and perfect for a summer baby. Such a pleasure to knit and send to a soon to be grandma".

August Crafters

Belinda (@here.i.knit) used the Trompe Le Monde pattern from The Sock Project by Summer Lee to create these wonderful socks.

"The yarn I used was Empire 4ply in 'Deep Rouge' and 'Chalk'. The yarn was a Christmas gift from my sister and I’m planning on giving her these socks as a Christmas gift this year, which I think she will appreciate (in fact, which I think she might have hoped for when she gave me the yarn!)".

Hani (@honeywoolwonders) created her cosy sweater using the Salty Days Sweater pattern by Kutavakika and our Morris Estate 4ply in 'Spruce' and Rowan Alpaca Classic in 'Foliage Green' held together.

"This project holds a special place in my heart as it was my first attempt at knitting a sweater. Though I didn’t follow the pattern’s exact yarn suggestions, I couldn’t resist this dreamy green combo. I took a chance and it resulted in the most beautiful garment I’ve ever knitted".

Dani (@hiveofactivities) crocheted Leaf Garden Top by @stitchedandcrafted using our Morris Avalon 8 ply in 'Moonstone'.

"This was the first top I’ve ever made for myself and my first clothing pattern test! I’d made cardis for my daughter and mum before but the patterns were straightforward granny stitches, so this was a step up. The pattern was made to measure and fitted beautifully but I used my favourite blanket joining flat braid join to give a bit of extra width overall and length for the sleeves without adding a whole extra motif. Doing this pattern test was a big milestone for me and has changed my focus from blankets to garments (for now!)".

Renee (@littlepinkcanary) knitted the Storm Sweater by Petite Knits in our Morris Norway 10ply in 'Cream'.

"I loved working with the yarn it’s amazing. I did a tubular bind off on the sleeves and am wearing this gorgeous sweater constantly".

Kath (@mindful.melbourne.maker) created the Turtle Dove Sweater in Rowan Brushed Fleece in ‘Hush 270'.

" It was knit by both my mum and I out of yarn I gifted her for her birthday so it was a lovely joint effort by the both of us! She started it and I finished it. It was her first top down in the round sweater pattern".
