Explore Handmade Creations with Morris and Sons Yarn

Every month, we showcase a few talented crafters from our Instagram community who’ve shared their unique creations using Morris and Sons yarn.

We have created this blog to not only display their exceptional skills but also the special touches that make their projects truly shine.

Renee used Avalon 4ply in various colours to create this wonderful sweater without a pattern. How talented is she!

"I made it up as I went along from making other clothes and Granny Squares. It's special to me because it shows how much progress I've made in my crochet journey. It was the second clothing piece I've made"

Irina used four balls of Morris Avalon 4ply in 'Mineral (Mid Green)' and the pattern 'Le Pull Lime skirt'!

"I am inspired by unconventional and age inappropriate! I believe that fashion is like theatre - it lets you try out any identity like a costume. This skirt makes me feel young - like a rebellious teen, despite being in my mid forties. I put it on whenever life gets too weighty and I need something lighthearted and immature".

We love it, go Irina!

Sam made a very stylish beret! She used our Basic Beret Kit with Rowan Felted Tweed Yarn in colour 206 Rose Quartz

"I made the largest size. It was a nice easy pattern. I absolutely love it! I didn't have to think about yarn selection, I knew it would just work!"

Jenifer created this adorable Mouche Bear by Cinthia Vallet from Laine Publishing's Mouche and Friends using Morris Estate 4ply. We are in love!

"I’m so very proud of this Mouche Bear by From Cinthia. I can see myself knitting every single one of his friends in the book. It was a pleasure to make, if only knitting was my full time job!"

"A personal touch was the buttons I inherited from my friend’s Nana's collection for the bears overalls. The bear holds a special place in my heart because it was gifted to comfort my daughter’s friend in hospital. Little bear kept her company and helped pass the time by getting undressed and dressed up over and over".

Shasta recently completed her first large knitting project - a beautiful Spice Cardigan for her husband. She used Rowan Felted Tweed Aran in 'Granite' and Seasalter' and followed the pattern by Drea Renee Knits.

"As an avid knitter, I ventured into new territory by learning steeking and raglan shaping for this project. I added personal touches by using a contrasting color for the neck band, collar and pocket lining, which enhanced the overall look. Additionally, I incorporated more buttons and opted for thicker yarn, using size 5 needles. Knitting relaxes me, and creating items for my loved ones brings me immense joy".

Angela used Avalon 8ply in 'Obsidian' and 'Zircon' to create this gorgeous sweater. We absolutely love the fit and style of this! She followed a vintage Tweed Stitch pattern from Etsy!

"I’ve made it for a friend whose favourite colour is blue so I’ve chosen colours that would go well together that he would like - I also altered the pattern to have a folded over neckband as I wanted to try the technique for the first time"

To keep the knit-spiration flowing, we’re giving away a $100 voucher every month. Share your finished project using Morris and Sons yarn and tag us on Instagram @morrisandsons to enter our contests!
