Description
The Little Esther Jacket is a top-down knit featuring a delicate textured pattern and thoughtful construction. It begins with the back yoke, worked flat and shaped with increases. Stitches are then picked up along the top of the back yoke to form the shoulders, and the body is worked back and forth. The sleeves are knit in the round from stitches picked up at the armholes. The Little Esther Jacket is designed to have approx. 20 cm [7¾ inches] of positive ease. The measurements for the finished jacket can be found on the front page of the pattern (please note that these measurements are only achieved if the correct gauge is maintained). If the intended wearer measures 56 cm [22 inches] around the chest, you should knit a size 3-4 years. A size 3-4 years jacket has a chest circumference of 74 cm [29¼ inches] which in the given example would give the intended wearer 18 cm [7 inches] of positive ease. If the measured chest circumference deviates from the age guide, you can adjust the length to fit the person you’re knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter or taller than average.
