The Celeste Sweater Junior is a top-down sweater with a circular yoke and vibrant, charted colorwork. It begins with the neck edge, followed by the yoke, which is worked in the round using five different colors. After the colorwork is complete, short rows are added to raise the back and ensure a comfortable fit. The body and sleeves are then worked in the round in stockinette stitch and finished with classic ribbed edges.
Stranded knitting often requires a slightly larger needle than plain stockinette to maintain consistent gauge, so be sure to knit swatches in both sections before beginning to ensure an even fabric throughout.
Size guide
The Celeste Sweater Junior is designed to have approx. 15-19 cm of positive ease.
If the recipient measures 56 cm around the chest, you should knit a size 3-4 years. Size 3-4 years has a chest circumference of 73 cm which will, in this example, give 17 cm of positive ease.
If the measured chest circumference deviates from the age guide, you can adjust the lengths to the person you’re knitting for. The same applies if the child is short/taller than average.
