Description

Learn to safely slice your knitting open with Pru Raymond. Explore techniques for finished, unfinished and sandwiched steeks and develop insights about when to use which one. Leave the class with confidence to modify existing garments and undertake Fair Isle projects that require steeking.

This workshop has homework that must be completed and ready for class. You will receive the homework via email after booking in. Please allow 1 - 2 days for us to send this to you and please ensure that the email you use to book is the one you would like us to send the homework details to. 

Materials required: 

  • Needles: 4 mm circular needle with 80cm circumference or DPNs 
  • Yarn: 2 x 50g balls of 8ply/DK non-superwash wool yarn in solid/ semi solid colours with a high contrast (ie. one white/ very light coloured yarn and one or mid- dark coloured yarn) 
  • Notions: wool or tapestry needle 
  • Homework Swatches: 2 x stranded colourwork swatches, using two colours of 8ply/ DK non-superwash wool yarn on 4 mm circular needle with 80cm circumference or DPNs, worked using Magic Loop

Skill Level

Skill level: This workshop is suitable for intermediate to advanced knitters who want to learn how to steek their knitting, including multiple ways to reinforce and finish the steeked edge. In order to complete the homework, there is an expectation that you can independently read a Fair Isle/ colourwork chart and knit two stranded colourwork swatches in the round.
