The Friday Sweater is a top-down design worked in broken rib for a textured, casual look. Raglan increases shape the yoke, and the neckline is finished with a folded rib edge for a clean, structured fit. The body and sleeves are knit in broken rib and finished with classic ribbed cuffs and hem.
Be sure to knit and wash a swatch before starting, as broken rib tends to grow with blocking—accurate gauge is key to achieving the right fit.
Size guide
The Friday Sweater is designed to have approx. 10-13 cm of positive ease.
If the recipient measures 56 cm around the chest, you should knit a size 3-4 years. Size 3-4 years has a chest circumference of 67 cm which will, in this example, give 11 cm of positive ease. If the measured chest circumference deviates from the age guide, you can adjust the lengths to the person you’re knitting for. The same applies if the child is short/taller than average.
