Hello !

It’s already October and we can feel the weather heating up, but that’s not to say that we don’t have exciting things going on in Morris and Sons this month. Knitters look out!  We have a stunning new pattern for the warmer seasons.  For those that sew we have a few new baby patterns for you to get your hands on. An exciting new shop will be opening up in Katoomba over the next few months and at the moment we are looking out for some experienced and enthusiastic staff. For those that crochet  we’re also introducing a Japanese Crochet  Workshop in October with the renowned Ingrid Turner, and on top of all that Morris and Sons has had a shipment of luxury European yarns!

In this issue:

 Judith's Spring Shawlette

The talented Judith, manager of our Melbourne store, has designed a new knitting pattern perfect for the change in seasons. Judith’s Spring Shawlette can be worn from spring to summer. Dare to use some bright colours! She’s worked this one up in Morris Paddington 6 ply, and Morris Empire 2 ply. Morris Paddington is a great yarn for the hot weather as it is a blend of Bamboo and Merino. The pattern and yarn is available to buy online and in store.

Morris and Sons Baby Sewing Patterns

At Morris and Sons our fabric range is growing and so is the Morris sewing pattern collection. The Bush Baby Booties are a very cute option for summer baby clothes, and Kelly Kangaroo is adorable too. The fabrics used for these patterns are 100% cotton and machine washable. They’re lovely and soft for your child whilst withstanding the wear and tear.

 The Granny Square Katoomba

We have some very exciting news for you this month; we are opening The Granny Square Katoomba!  This store is modelled off  The Granny Square Newtown and will continue to provide great quality yarns and a friendly helpful face.
The stock will be constistant with our Sydney Morris and Sons store, and for those who live in the Blue Mountains, it will be much easier for you to pick up orders. Look out ahead for crafting workshops in the Katoomba store in the coming months. It’s likely to open during November. The date is yet to be confirmed.
With The Granny Square  Katoomba opening very soon we are looking for experienced and friendly staff to run the store. If you’re interested please fill in our online application form.

Japanese Crochet Workshop with Ingrid Turner

Another fantastic and innovative crochet class is starting in October with the talented teacher Ingrid Turner. This class focuses on the ins and outs of reading Japanese crochet patterns. The class will be run over two sessions. One session will be directed at making a floral motif scarf and in the second session you will bring in a Japanese crochet pattern of your choice and get direction on how to read and make it.
The class will run on the 27th of October and the 24th of November. Bookings are essential.

Over the past couple of weeks we have had a huge shipment of European yarns. Some of these have never been seen before in Morris and Sons. From crochet to knitting, summer to winter, angora to cotton, there will be something for every project. These include luxury yarns from Anny BlattBouton d’OrRosariosSchoppel and  Grignasco. The yarns are both available online and in store.
