Calculate
The first thing you need is the "stitch count" of your design. This is usually printed somewhere on the chart, often in the format "228w × 174h". If it’s not printed, you may need to physically count the boxes along the sides of the chart. Enter these two numbers in the calculator above. It doesn’t matter which order you enter them.
Next, we need to know how fine the fabric will be that you’re planning to use. This is usually specified as a number of stitches per inch. ("16ct" means sixteen stitches per inch.) For very fine work on linen, some stitchers prefer to work over two threads on the fabric. Please enter your fabric count and tick the checkbox if required.
Lastly, we need to know how much extra material you need outside the area of the design. We usually recommend 10cm (4”) for designs that you want to have framed, but you can increase or decrease this number as needed.
Once you click the "calculate" button, our system will work out the finished size of your stitched design as well as the fabric size you will need to purchase.
